The money is great to win.
In the long run I could care less about bringing home cash. Maybe it would be more feasible to pay back the 1ST place winner of each event for the entry fees paid in?? just a thought.
The sponor prizes are cool and dont cost the park anything. I would like to see that continue. But, no sponsor prizes would not stop me from competing.

I agree with Wes 100 percent.

I have an additional suggestion. Instead of accumulating bonus points for being in all competitions, would it be practical (and fair) to "throw out" a competitor's poorest event score? That way, if someone is unable to compete on any of the weekends, dq's, dnf's, or whatever, his (or her) score would not be computed in the overall score for the series. This would be done for all of the competitors and a poor performance or missed weekend would not knock you out of the running for the series championship. A competitor who competes in every part and performs consistently would not be at any disadvantage, since he (or she) will benefit from having their poorest score go "poof".

Just an idea. Any thoughts on this?

That's the best idea I've seen yet, Miller. Or even add to that, get a few bonus points towards your overall score if you do run all events, but still throw out the lowest or a miss...

I'm definitely not in it for the money... I've told several of the volunteers and other competitors that the main reason I'm doing the series is because it pushes me to do lines that I wouldn't even think about doing in a normal day of trail riding... and its FUN!

That being said, this year I was hoping to make a good competitive run now that most of the bugs are worked out of the rig... I think, and I'm learning what its capable of. But, I have a prior engagement the day of the first event. So if nothing changes from the way it was run last year, I'll be out of it before I ever start...

I like the idea of dropping the lowest score Miller. I am with Wes on First place only getting money and not much of that. Did anybody that won money last year ever come close to covering costs?? I l know we didnt, I couldd of bought a NEW samurai for what I spent fixing Dylan's axles alone.

Money was not the reason I entered the comp last year. I have always just wanted to "give it a try". Sure it was nice, not going to pretend I didn't want to take home some cash as it was setup for cash payout. If it's offered, I'll take it if I can  Now that I did the series for a year, I want to compete every year, payout or not, I'm hooked.

I like the low score drop suggestion and 1st place cash payout only suggestion. If neither are offered, I will still enter the series this year, I just hope there are more in my class so I don't have to move up the D class

Great thought, just remember to post links so we all can find the thread in due time to reply. The more replies the better.

LET'S MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY, LOWER THE ENTRY FEE TO $100 FLAT FOR ALL FOUR EVENTS. KEEP 100% OF THE ENTRY FEE FOR THE PARK. GIVE 1ST-3RD PLACE SPONSOR GIFTS, DON'T BOTHER GETTING TROPHIES OR PLAQUES, I F ANYTHING JUST PRINT OFF A CERTIFICATE FROM THE COMPUTER. USE THE ENTRY FEES TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PARK . I LOVE COMPETING IN THE CHALLENGES AND LIKE MILLERS IDEA ON DROPING YOUR LOWEST SCORE FOR THE SERIES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE DIFFRENT TRAILS USED FOR EACH OF THE CHALLENGES, THAT WAY NO CLASS WILL RUN THE SAME CORSE TWICE IN ONE SERIES. I THINK THAT WOULD MAKE THE SPECTATORS AND ENTRIES HAPPY. JUST MY 2CENTS

The 100 for all 4 sounds good and to make the prizes better give first and second free passes to the park for the next year. :) :D

I wouldn't say for a year, but a few free passes would definitely be a nice prize.

Another great idea.

Maybe just a single 1st place trophy for overall points, all classes combined. Overall series point champion keeps the trophy for a year and gets to defend it in the next years series. Just keep passing the same one on??

I dont like the drop the drop the lowest score idea. It is a good idea. But, it opens the door for too many people to miss an event. If a lot of competitors miss a single event and the spectators have nothing to see it will look bad on Gulches. Plus it can give an unfair advantage to a guy who runs every event.
Unfair scenario to back up my statement
Competitior A attend all four events and score a 96 at every event
Competitor B attends 3 events, and score a 96 at two events and a 97 at one event. Skips one event with a hangover. Drops the skipped event score and beats competitor A.
Very oversimplified. But, I think you get the idea.

I would like to some input from the super truck class. I dont know if they read the board.

Let me try to address some of the comments above.
First in Wes's example. I at first agreed until I thought of it a little further. So if no, drop competitor A who went to all 4 events wins the over all by 95 points When B actually tied or beat A in every event he was able to make. But because of a death in the family, possibly driver C D E and F are ahead of him in the standings. Would leave a bad taste in B"s gut.
So I'm kinda liking the drop Idea.

We have to remember my cast in stone rule. Something like a death in the family is the only reason any driver would jeopardize his class from being ended before the last event. Also there are only 3 events that score the Charity event is for bonus points only. Why miss an event because you just don't feel like it (hangover) if your class or the entire series could be canceled because of lack of drivers. Last year after the second event the series would have been canceled for all classes under this new rule. I have had drivers pay for all of the events in advance but don't come to many or none. Money up front to me is not as important as drivers showing up. Even though I have 4 drivers pre paid but only three show up, that class is canceled after that event. The money is secondary to me as it really isn't mine anyway. I hope everyone understands the importance of this rule. To me spectators are the key and with no drivers there is no event.

I appreciate the idea of no cash payout. But so far that is the opinion of you guys my core drivers. Second I have lost many sponsors the main one of which is O' Reilly's. But without a payout is there a reason for a series? I can live with a payout. We could cut down trophies or plaques and give out to first and second place teams instead of first through third driver and spotter. Which would help me out and leave more payout .

Passing trophies from year to year never works I can't even get ranger shirts back much less a trophy that has collected dust for a year.
